First we don’t want anyone suing anyone. The short version of the rules is that the artists are submitting art for me to put in an art book, and we will encourage people to see the work.
Other than that:
The artists retain all copyright to submitted work but give me the right to put it into the book project and advertise the project.
The art submitted must be original art that the artist has copyright to or written permission from anyone with claims to the art (no fan art, use of third party copyrighted/trademarked concepts, images, or characters) – basically if neither of us can get in trouble I will be happy.
Artists under legal age must submit permission from their guardian.
I don’t charge a fee to enter, nor do I pay a royalty for use of submissions.
I control all the graphic design decisions on how the submissions are displayed (which may include slight alterations for layout purposes).
Circumstances may cause cancellation of the project at any point.
Artists may submit any reasonable amount of entries for consideration.
Suggestions:
Artwork that is offensive probably won’t be used. Eroticism should be kept to the level that mainstream artists generally approve of in a gallery situation – if you must, go for subtle rather than blatant). Any photographic representations of people’s faces require a model release to be considered. Submissions can be any style, but should be of good quality for that genre (concept art, silhouettes, pencils, polished work, 3d, character blueprints, I want a wide range of styles and genres of SciFi or Fantasy work). Unusual and cool concepts are more likely to be chosen. If you need to credit others, let me know.
